Located on the western tip of the Sentosa Island, Fort Siloso Sentosa, is Singapore's sole restored and preserved coastal fort that would give you an insight into those poignant war years. Complete with the bunkers, cannons and underground passages, Fort Siloso Sentosa is reminiscent of the days when it withstood the foreign attacks and defended the Singapore Harbor. There is an awesome collection of the World War II memorabilia and when you have already seen much of it, you would realize that there are still some more left to be seen. Relive the life of the soldiers during those tough days and the event of Singapore's capture culminating in its occupation. The history buffs surely have got enough reason to visit this place.
In the exhibition, A Soldier Remembers - The History of Blakang Mati, memory takes the form of 245 photographs, documents and film clippings. There are also life size replicas of people and the detergent smell in the Laundry Room and the aroma of sizzling bacon the Cook House are brilliantly revived. Real guns and cannons dating back to the 17th century with the sound effect of firing is the icing on the cake.
