Singapore Changi Airport

Singapore Changi Airport is a centre of aviation in the Southeast Asian region. It is situated in changi which is about 20km east northeast of the commercial centre of Singapore. Changi Airport is the headquarter of Singapore Airlines, Singapore Airlines Cargo, SilkAir, Tiger Airways, Jet star Asia Airways and Valuair, and a major center for Emirates Airline, Garuda Indonesia, and Qantas. All these aircrafts operated by 80 airlines collectively contribute about 4,054 weekly flights to over 184 cities in 57 countries.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) operates the Changi Airport. It is believed to be one of the important economy boosters of Singapore as over 13000 people are employed here.

However, Singapore Changi Airport currently has two terminals and its third terminal is under construction. Changi Airport is the first in Asia to conceive and build a dedicated terminal catering to the budget traveler. It had cut back on the amenities such as aerobridges, elaborate physical structures and decorations in the passenger terminal building in order to offer the budget travelers lower landing fees, handling fees and airport tax. Nevertheless, air-conditioning, duty free shops and free internet terminals are set up for the travelers.

The terminal facilities of this airport include duty-free shops and eating outlets. Besides, it has six open air garden areas. All the gardens feature variety of plantations such as cactus, bamboo, heliconia, sunflower, fern, and orchid. It provides lounge areas for both children and grown-ups. Not only this, internet and games facilities, prayer rooms, showers, spas, gym, swimming pool and a hotel are offered within the international transit area of the interconnected Terminals 1 and 2.
