Getting to Machu Picchu by Air: Machu Picchu has no airport. International travelers can take a flight to Lima, and then a connecting flight to Cusco. From Cusco, there are train services connecting Aguas Calientes, and from there you can take a bus up to the citadel.

Some people choose to travel one-way by bus and walk down to Aguas Calientes. It takes about 45 minutes to descend from Machu Picchu to Aguas Calientes, from where you can board a train back to Cusco.
Getting to Machu Picchu on Foot: Hiking along the famous Inca Trail , is by far the most spectacular way to reach Machu Picchu. This 4-day hike, covering a 33 km long route, is full of spectacular mountain scenery.
