Antigua and Barbuda is one of the nine host venues for the ICC Cricket
World Cup 2007 in the West Indies. Antigua and Barbuda will
host the Second-Round Super 8 matches of the ICC World Cup
2007. Cricket is not just a game, but a passion of life for
Antiguans. Antigua has created several outstanding cricketers,
including the legendary Sir Vivian Richards, Andy Roberts,
Curtly Ambrose, Richie Richardson and Ridley Jacobs.
Antigua is one of the major for the ICC Cricket World
Cup venues, and so it's constructing a brand new world-class
Sir Vivian Richards Stadium. The new stadium will have a total
seating capacity for around 20,000 for the World Cup, of which
10,000 will be permanent seats. Sir Vivian Richards Cricket
Stadium will have a total of 7 playing pitches, out of which
4 will be used for the ICC World Cup 2007 Second-round Super
8 Matches. A total of 6 World Cup matches will be played at
this beautiful venue, between March 27 and April 8, 2007.
The size of the stadium and playing conditions meet the standards
for both One-day internationals and Test matches.
