The Scottish Cricket Team is the national cricket team of
Scotland. Once a part of England Cricket Team, they severed
their cricket ties with England in 1992, and were awarded
the Associate Membership of the International Cricket Council
(ICC) in 1994. They participated in 1999 Cricket World Cup
but couldn't proceed beyond first round, losing in all of
their group round matches. The best moments of the Scotland
cricket team came on November22, 2004 when they defeated Canada
by an inning and 84 runs in the inaugural ICC Intercontinental
Cup. They also won the 2005 ICC Trophy and have been awarded
One-day International (ODI) status from January 01, 2006 to
the next ICC Trophy in 2009.
The Scotland Cricket Team will play several One-day internationals
in 2006 and 2007 in its preparation to the ICC Cricket World
Cup 2007 in the West Indies. The team will play an ODI against
Pakistan in June, 2006 and will travel to Kenya in January
2007 to play 5-match ODI series against the home team. Scotland
is placed in Group A of the ICC World Cup 2007 groupings,
along with Australia, South Africa, and the Netherlands. The
team will start its World Cup 2007 campaign against world
champions Australia on March 14, 2007 at St.Kitts and Nevis. Scotland named the squad for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 on August 27, 2006.
