Like other parts of world, Christmas in Holland is marked with beautiful Christmas tree, Christmas decoration and lip smacking Christmas recipes. People decorate their homes with glittering Christmas lights, balloons, candles, flowers and artificial or live Christmas tree. In Holland, St. Nicolas arrives a little earlier with gifts. He arrives in November, along with his helper Black Peter and wears Bishop's robes. On the other hand, Black Peter wears Spanish clothes.
Amsterdam is a favorite Christmas vacation destination, as people from all over the world visit there to greet St. Nicholas. Amid great festivities, St. Nicholas mounts Snow horse and rides all over the city. There is another interesting Christmas tradition in Holland of blowing horns by farmers at sunset. They perform it during entire Christmas period. These horns are usually blown over the wells. Thus, they make immensely loud sounds. This announces the arrival of Christmas.
