Like all other European nations, Belgium too has its unique style of celebrating Christmas. Travour takes you to this breathtakingly beautiful country so that you and your loved ones can experience this festival first hand; with our packages for Christmas in Belgium
In Belgium there are two Santa Claus father figures. St. Nicholas is perhaps a little better known (internationally) than his counterpart, Pere Noel .
St Nicholas comes to say a warm hello to those who speak the Walloon language (a dialect of French spoken in Belgium) on the other hand; Pere (father in French) Noel visits those who speak French. If Belgian children have been at their best behavior they are likely to receive their favorite chocolates and candies from their Santa –Pere Noel! However; for naughty little ones, Pere only has a bunch of wooden sticks! So Belgian parents urge their children to be on their best behavior in the run up to Father Santa's visit. This sums up the very essence of Christmas in Belgium. Travour takes you and your family to this magical land so that you too can be a part of traditional celebrations of Christmas in Belgium
On the eve of Christmas in Belgian homes ( le réveillion de Noël ), a festive buffet is prepared and served. It begins with a drink (aperitif) and snacks , followed by a first course comprising sea-food, which is followed by stuffed turkey. The dessert is usually typical Belgian 'la bûche de Noël ', (meaning 'Christmas log') – which is a rich creamy cake. Another traditional Belgian Christmas food; ' cougnou' or ' cougnolle ' – is sweetened bread (shaped like infant Jesus) as mentioned above, in Belgium; Father Christmas is called ' Saint Nicholas' , the same as in Holland and he is believed to get gifts for children on December 6th, St. Nicholas Day , much before Christmas Day, which falls on December 25 th . Family presents are given on Christmas too, under the family X-Mass tree .
Travour , an international travel site gives you the unmatched opportunity to witness Christmas in Belgium
