Christmas in Mexico is more of a religious character. It is purely a celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. For the celebration of Nativity on the Holy Night the preparations commence from nine days on 16th December before the 24th December.
Every home exhibit nativity scene where hosts of the home assume the characters of the innkeepers and the children and adults in the neighborhood request lodging. The third house will allow lodging. Then they pray the Rosary by kneeling down. After offering prayers it is party time for children.
Christmas celebrations in Mexico include attending a Mass at the midnight. In Mexico gifts are not received on the Christmas day, as it is a celebration of the birth of Savior. On January 6, it is believed that Wise men brought the gifts for the newly born baby, so children also get gifts. It is believed that Magi places gifts for children near their shoes if it is bigger and in case it is smaller it will be found inside the shoes.
Today many traditions have been modified. Christmas is celebrated in the American style. So, Christmas in Mexico also has a Santa Claus.
